Ecological peculiarities of each species were determined and general and particular regularities were detected in distribution of ants within the limits of the south-eastern part of the steppe zone in the Ukrainian SSR. It is established that distribu¬tion of ants is affected by two main factors: peculiarity in the growth conditions of the forest stands within the steppe zone and character of ants' nesting.
