GLOBALIZATION AND BASIC NEGOTIATION PRINCIPLES
Many people are surprised to find that there are situations in which they could or do negotiate every day. All too commonly,
when we think of negotiation, we think of large, complex, formal negotiations between unions and management, between nations
on a treaty, between business in a merger or a major acquisition.
A negotiation or bargaining situation is one in which two or more parties have to make a decision about their interdependent
goals or objectives; in which the parties are committed to peaceful means for resolving their dispute; and in which there is no clear
or established method oe procedure for making the decision.
Negotiation is not limited to to the bisiness arena, as everyday in our private lives we are called on to bargain with others. Yet
when people come to negotiate, especially for large financial items, “people often find themselves in a dilemma. They see two ways
to nagotiate: soft and hard” (Fisher & Uri,1991,p.14). This choices are often unconcious with the “soft” negotiator wanting to avoid
interpersonal conflict and readily making concessions and the “hard” negotiator wanting to win at all costs and risking the ongoing
relationships with the other parties (Fisher & Uri,1991).
A third way, called “principled negotiation”, attemps to find mutual benefits or a win/win for all parties.
Because our choice of bargaining style is often unconcious, being based on our beliefs and values, we may not know whether
we are hard, soft or principled bargainers until we are faced with a bargaining situation.
In conclusion, bargaining and negotiation are part of our everyday lives. There are a number of choices available to us when
bargaining, and how we choose to conduct ourselves in theese situations can affect our relationships and quality of life both at work
and at home. The exercise outlined above is designed to give students an insight into the different styles of bargaining that exist ,
whilst giving them an opportunity to develop their own skills in this area.
Appendix 1.
Hard negotiators: Distrust otrhers and are hard on people, hold their positions (“it’s my way or the highway”), use a win/lose
approach to solutions,and use threats and intimidiation to win. For hard negotiators, bargaining is a contest of wills.
Soft negotiators: Trust others and are soft on people, concede readily, use a lose/lose approach to solutions, and they yield or
to appease their opponents. Soft negotiators avoid a contest of wills.
Principled negotiators: Separate people from the problem and are hard on the problem, focus on interests and concerns not
on positions, generate multiple options and look for a wim/win approach, and they focuson standards and respond to principles
rather than to manipulation or pressure. They insist on fair and objective standards when negotiating.

ВАЛЮТНАЯ ПОЛИТИКА США КАК ФАКТОР ДЕСТАБИЛИЗАЦИИ МИРОВОЙ ФИНАНСОВОЙ
СИСТЕМЫ
В системе мировой экономики ключевая роль принадлежит США: сильнейшая в мире американская экономика обес-
печивает более 20 % мирового ВВП. Роль американской валюты трудно переоценить: на ее долю приходится примерно
40% валютной корзины СДР, она по-прежнему лидирует как международное платёжное и резервное средство. К доллару
"прикреплены" 38 валют, к числу которых относится и украинская гривна. Резервы НБУ в наличной американской валюте
составляют 146,08 млн., при этом на руках у населения Украины находится 200 млн. долларов.
Национальная валюта – один из основных индикаторов состояния экономики страны, а курс и стабильность валюты
определяется экономической политикой страны. Периоды падения курса доллара существенно тормозили развитие миро-
вой экономики в разное время. Крах Бреттон-Вудской золотовалютной системы в начале 70-х годов привел к подрыву до-
верия к доллару на общемировом уровне и нарастанию несбалансированности международных расчётов. Следствием же
для экономики США стали существенный её регресс и высокие темпы инфляции. В начале 80-х годов падение курса аме-
риканской валюты не только ударило по экономике страны, но и вызвало экономический кризис в Японии. За последние
же двадцать лет курс доллара по отношению к другим валютам серьезно колебался, что повышает возможность возникно-
вения кризиса общемирового характера.
На сегодняшний день валютная политика США вызывает опасения со стороны международных финансовых субъек-
тов.
Главным источником системного кризиса США является дефицит платежного баланса, который состоит из следую-
щих факторов:
дефицита бюджета, растущего внутреннего и внешнего долга страны, отрицательного торгового сальдо, высокого
уровня заимствования субъектов американской экономики.
Бюджетный дефицит уже стал неотъемлемой чертой американской экономики. Так в 2004 финансовом году он достиг
