Identity of Tephritopyrgota ferruginea and Adapsilia longicauda (Diptera, Pyrgotidae) [Èäåíòèôèêàöèÿ
Tephritopyrgota ferruginea è Adapsilia longicauda (Diptera, Pyrgotidae)]. — S.-K. Kim and
H.-Y. Han (2001, Insecta Koreana, 18(3): 255–291) described and figured in details several species
of pyrgotid flies collected in South Korea. As they had no access to type specimens of Asian pyr-
gotids, several species names they established have been later found to be junior synonyms (Korneyev,
2004, Vestn. Zool. 38(1): 19–46). Further revision of type specimens of Pyrgotidae shows that the
holotype } of Trypeta ferruginea Walker, 1852, with labels: “ferruginea” [Walker’s handwriting], “46”,
“68.4”, “Ind. ”, “India / W. W. Saunders / B. M. 1868–4”, “Type” [green-bordered paper circle],
“Holotype Trypeta ferruginea Walker verified by J. E. Chainey, 2002” and “Holotype” [red-bordered
paper circle] (BMNH) has very similar head shape, wing pattern, setae of body and legs, as well as
long, slightly ventrally curved oviscape, ca. 1.6 times as long as abdomen, as it was described and fig-
ured for A. longicauda Kim et Han. The only difference found is the presence of 2 pairs of ocellar
and scutellar setae in Indian specimen (one pair of ocellars and 3 pairs of scutellar setae in the Korean
specimen figured), which are rather variable characters in related taxa. The following synonymy is
established: Tephritopyrgota ferruginea (Walker, 1852) = Adapsilia longicauda Kim et Han, 2001,
syn. n. This species does not possess sclerotized subocular plate and certainly does not belong either
to Adapsilia, or to related genera. — V. A. Korneyev (Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology, NAS of

The First Record of Terellia amberboae (Diptera, Tephritidae) from Russia and Europe [Ïåðâàÿ
íàõîäêà Terellia amberboae (Diptera, Tephritidae) â Ðîññèè è Åâðîïå]. — One male of Terellia
amberboae Korneyev et Merz, 1996 was collected by sweeping in Ulyanovsk Region (European
Russia): chalk steppe, Malaya Atmala near Srednikovo, Radischevo District (52°56' N, 48°55' E),
9.05.2004 (Evstigneev leg.). This species has been previously recorded from south-eastern Kazakhstan
and Uzbekistan (Korneyev, Merz, 1996: Journal of Ukrainian Entomological Society, vol. 2 (for
1994/1995), No. 2: 57–62). This is the first record of T. amberboae in the checklist of European fruit
