ДО ІСТОРІЇ СЕРЕДНЬОВІЧНОГО БОС-
ПОРУ
Викладено основні етапи історії Бос-
пору Кімерійського в Середньовіччі від VII до
XV ст. Головна проблема історії середньо-
вічного Боспору вбачається у візантійсько-
му факторі, поєднаному з впливами різних
народів Північного Причорномор’я – хазар,
русів, татар, генуезців.

ЛІТОПИСНІ СВІДЧЕННЯ ПРО ЗАСНУ-
ВАННЯ МІСТА ВОЛОДИМИРА НАПРИКІН-
ЦІ Х СТОЛІТТЯ: ВОЛОДИМИР НА ЛУЗІ ЧИ
ВЛАДІМІР НА КЛЯЗЬМІ?
Проаналізовано літописні свідчення про
початки гóрода Володимира. Розглянуто-
складові первинного літописного сюжету про
заснування города заходами князя Володи-
мира Святославовича у “Словенській землі”.
Обґрунтовано, що ця назва стосувалася Воли-
ні. Звернуто увагу на методичне втручання
пізніх редакторів до давнього тексту та по-
ступову трансформацію літописних фактів,
спрямовану на вивищення та прославлення
одноіменного гóрода, збудованого більш ніж
століття по тому зусиллями Володимира
Мономаха на р. Клязьмі, на тодішній далекій
північно-східній окраїні Київської держави.

в екзилі. Зосереджено увагу на відновленні
маршруту Едварда Вигнанця під час його
перебування поза Англією. Зроблено висно-
вок про країни перебування Едварда Вигнан-
ця на континенті. Проаналізовано зв’язки
між англійською королівською династією

TO THE HISTORY OF BOSPOR IN THE
MIDDLE AGES
The paper outlines the main stages of the
history of Cimmerian Bosporus in the Middle
Ages 7 to 15 century. The main problem of the
medieval history of the Bosporus author sees a
factor of Byzantine infl uence, which is faced with
the impact of the various peoples of the Northern
Black Sea coast – the Khazars, the Rus, the Ta-
tars, the Genoese.

CHRONICLE EVIDENCE PROVING THE
ESTABLISHING OF VOLODYMYR IN THE
END OF THE X-th CENTURY: VOLODYMYR
ON LUGA OR VLADIMIR ON KLYAZ’MA?
The article analyses a complex of chroni-
cle evidence about the establishing of the city
(hórod) Volodymyr. The main components of the
primary annalistic story about the foundation of
the city by Prince Volodymyr Svyatoslavovych in
the “Slo venska land” have been studied. It was
proved that this place name was used to outline
the Volyn Region. The author considered the
methodological intervention to the ancient text
by later editors and the gradual transformation
of chronicle facts aimed to exaggerate and glorify
the city (hórod)of the same name Volodymyr, built
due to the eff orts of Prince Vladimir Monomakh
on Klyaz’ma River in the northeastern edge of the
Kievan state more than a century later.

ІДЕНТИФІКАЦІЇ НАСЕЛЕННЯ СХІДНИХ КО-
МІТАТІВ УГОРЩИНИ В ХІ–ХІІІ СТОЛІТТЯХ
Показано один з прикладів отримання
на східному кордоні Угорського королівства
земельного надання для родини Себеслава з
Чічаровець. Розглядаються обставини появи
сімейства у межах комітату Унг, ймовірне
етнічне коріння. Висловлюється припущен-
ня, що частина переселенців з Галицької зем-
лі могла в межах володінь Арпадів не іденти-
фікуватися як “руські”, природно не маючи
на це жодних підстав. Заохочення до пересе-
лення могли виводитися від часів правління
Коломана І – галицького короля Коломана.

ПРО “КРИМСЬКУ ХАЗАРІЮ” В XI–XII
СТОЛІТТЯХ
Проаналізовано відомості про “Крим-
ську Хазарію”, яка нібито існувала на пів-
острові в Х–ХIІ ст. Стверджено, що це іс-
торіографічний міф: джерела розповідають
про Хазарский каганат, або землі Азійського
Босфору, де в останній третині X – на по-
чатку XI ст. існував хазарський анклав. На-
прикінці XI – в XII ст. Хазарія – підвладна
Візантії область Азійського Босфору після
ліквідації Тмутараканського князівства.

HUNGARY IN XI–XIIIth”
There is in the article one of an episodes
about the Sebeslav from Checher, which had re-
ceived the lands on the east border of Hungary
in XIIIth. The author researches the conditions
of the appearance of this family into comitatus
Ung. It’s very interesting their ethnical origin.
Considered, that one part of the migrants from
Galithia could not be identifi ed like “ruthe-
nians”, because hadn’t grounds for this. Hun-
garian king Colomanus I or king of Galithia
Colomanus were interested in active migration
movements to the Hungary.

ABOUT CRIMEAN KHAZARIA IN XI–
XII CENTURIES
Authors tried to analyze text sources,
where this term was used. Author judged, that it
was a historical myth and sources told us about
a Khazarian Khaganate or about the Northern
Caucasus territory, where Khazarian enclave
had been formed in the last third of X–ХI c. At
the end of XI–XII Khazaria region on asian Bos-
porus, that got into Byzantine infl uence a¾ er
falling of Tmutorakan principality was.

та аналізу пов’язаних із Звенигородом у на-
уковій літературі археологічних пам’яток
стверджується, що найправомірніше пов’я-
зувати Звенигород Івана Ростиславовича із
городищем в центрі села Дзвенигород Бор-
щівського р-ну Тернопільської обл.

ФРЕСКИ СВЯТИХ КНЯЗІВ-МУЧЕНИ-

В ПОЛОЦЬКУ
Публікуються відкриті в Прображен-
ській церкві Спасо-Ефросинієвого монастиря
в Полоцьку фрески святих князів-мучеників
Бориса і Гліба, святого Вацлава Чеського та
мученика Романа – патрональних святих
представників полоцької династії. Нововід-
найдені фрески охарактеризовано як одне з
найважливіших відкриттів серед оригіналь-
ної старокиївської іконографії княжої доби.

власних урядників, чи підлягали земським?

джерел дозволяє лише в загальних рисах від-
повісти на це запитання.

ньовічної історії Русі залишаються вітчизня-

важливої інформації можемо теж знайти і в

FRESCOES OF THE SAINT PRINCE MAR-
TYRS IN THE CHURCH OF THE TRANSFIGU-
RATION OF THE SAVIOUR IN POLOTSK
The article presents the frescoes, which were
recently found in the Transfi guration Church of
the Сonvent of the Savior and St. Euphrosyne in
Polotsk. They depict Saint Prince Martyrs Borys
and Hlib, Saint Wenceslaus of Bohemia and Mar-
tyr Roman, who were the patron saints of Polotsk
dynasty. The article characterizes these frescoes
as one of the most important discoveries of the
original old Kyiv iconography of the Princely era.

The article analyzes the question of place of
inhabitants of castle-town se¹ lements in the ad-
ministrative system of The Principality of Gali-
cia-Volhynia. The main question – if they have
it’s own governors or were ruled by territorial
governors? Fragmentarity of wri¹ en sourses let
to give just an outline of this problem.

tory of Rus‘ are understandably domestic chron-
icles, but a considerable amount of important

належала до головного напрямку інте ресів
Чеського королівства, але знайомство з чесь-
кими хроніками може бути дуже корисним
при дослідженні історії Русі. Ця праця при-

DISTRICTUS PODHORAYENSIS: ДО
ПРОБЛЕМИ ТЕРИТОРІАЛЬНОЇ ОРГАНІЗА-
ЦІЇ ГАЛИЦЬКО-ВОЛИНСЬКОГО ПОРУБІЖ-
ЖЯ У XIII–XIV СТОЛІТТЯХ
Проаналізовано адміністративне утво-
рення, відоме в пізньосередньовічних джере-
лах під назвою districtus Podhorayensis. Ви-
словлено припущення про локалізацію цього
регіону у межах Грядового Побужжя та фор-
мування його територіальної структури
у складі княжої Белзької землі. Проведено
аналіз системи заселення, зокрема, виділено
ранги населених пунктів за площею поши-
рення культурного шару та визначено індекс
найближчого сусідства. Окрім того, увагу
присвячено диференціації поселень за типом
топографічного розміщення та впливу гід-
ромережі на розвиток просторово-терито-
ріальної організації Підгорайської волості.

БОЯРИН ЧИ КНЯЗЬ? “УЗУРПАЦІЇ” ВО-
ЛОДИСЛАВА КОРМИЛЬЧИЧА У ВИКЛАДІ
ГАЛИЦЬКО-ВОЛИНСЬКОГО ЛІТОПИСУ
Володислав Кормильчич належав до
найвпливовіших боярів Галицької землі пер-
шої половини XIII ст. Його високу позицію
старалися тлумачити у різний спосіб,
твердячи, що був спорідненим з династією
Рюриковичів. Галицько-Волинський літо-
пис інтерпретовано дослівно, забуваючи про
well. Surely Rus‘ did not belong to the primary
sphere of interest of the Kingdom of Bohemia.
However being acquainted with the Bohemian
chronicles should be very helpful for the research
of the history of Rus‘. This paper is primari-
ly interested in Annales Bohemici; Annales
O¹ akariani; Heinrici de Heimburg Annales;
Chronicle of so-called Dalimil; Chronicon aulae
regiae; Chronicon Francisci Pragensis; Chroni-

DISTRICTUS PODHORAYENSIS: TO THE
PROBLEM OF TERRITORIAL SHAPING OF
GALICIA AND VOLYN’ BORDERLAND AREA
IN THE XIII–XIV CENTURIES
The article analyses an administrative re-
gion known in medieval sources as districtus
Podhorayensis. It is suggested that region was
shaped on the territory of Western Buh ridge
hills area on the basis of earlier formation – Belz
land from the ages of principalities. An analysis
was performed of se¹ lement system. In particu-
lar, some diff erent levels of se¹ lements were de-
fi ned according to size of dwelling area visible
by the size of archaeological cultural layers. Also
the index of close environment was established.
A detailed approach was made towards the dif-
ferentiation of se¹ lements by their topographi-
cal location, correlation of the rivers system with
territorial organization of Pidhoraiska volost’.

A BOYAR OR A PRINCE? “USURPA-
TIONS’ OF WOŁODYSŁAW KORMILICZICZ
ACCORDING TO “THE GALICIAN VOLYN-
IAN CHRONICLE”
Wolodyslaw Kormiliczicz was one of
the most infl uential boyars of the Galicia in
the fi rst half of the 13th century. His high posi-
tion was being explained variously, for example
by suggesting that he was related to the Ru-
rikids. “The Galician-Volynian Chronicle” was

те, що ця пам’ятка письменства була укла-
дена при дворі Романовичів. Вихваляючи сво-
їх господарів, літописець водночас намагався
показати у негативному світлі їхніх воро-
гів. Нерідко з виховною метою він вплітав до
розповіді видумані епізоди чи вживав до опи-
су противників слова, покликані викликати
негативні враження. Проаналізовано вміще-
ні в Галицько-Волинському літописі описи,
які стосуються Володислава Кормильчича,
у пошуках відповіді на запитання, як на-
справді формувалася його кар’єра.

ВІДНОСИНИ ГАЛИЦЬКО-ВОЛИН-
СЬКИХ КНЯЗІВ З ЛИТВОЮ
Розглянуто відносини галицько-волин-
ських князів з литовськими князями з по-
чатку ХІІІ ст. і до кінця ХІV ст. Особлива
увага звернена на періоди діяльності Данила
Романовича, Лева Даниловича та Любарта-
Дмитра Гедиміновича. Запропонована спро-
ба розв’язання деяких дискусійних проблем,
зокрема загибелі князя Войшелка Міндовго-
вича, причин конфронтації 1275–1277 рр.,
обставин приходу до влади князя Болеслава-
Юрія Тройденовича.

Висвітлено процес організації і розви-
тку бойових та похідних порядків галиць-
кого і волинського війська у XIII–XIV ст.
Наголошено на тому, що тактика і орга-
нізація військової справи у Галицькій і Во-
линській землях в XIII–XIV ст. відповідали
рівню тогочасних європейських країн.

paint their enemies in a bad light.Not infrequent-
ly the narrative wasinterspersed with fi ctitious
fragments or opponents was described by words
with pejorative connotations – all for didactic
purposes. The following thesis a¹ e mpts toanalyse
“The Galician Volynian Chronicle” descriptions
with reference to Wolodyslaw Kormiliczicz and
to answer how his career was in fact developed.

RELATIONS OF GALYCH-VOLYNIAN
PRINCES WITH LITHUANIA
The article is devoted to the problems of
Lithuanian politics of Galych-Volynian princes,
cpecifi cally of prince Lev Danilovych. The ini-
tial contacts between Lithuanian dukes and Lev
Danilovych in support of duke Tovtyvil during
the fi rst phase of the struggle for the Austrian
Inheritance were considered. The analysis of the
death of Voyshelk was done the manifestations
and results of the union between Lev Danilovich
and Troyden were shown. Also the reasons and
run of the war with Lithuania in 1275 – early
1280’s. The initial following relations with Lith-
uania to the closing of XIV century.

THE BATTLE AND MARCH ORDERS OF
GALICIAN AND VOLYN ARMY IN XIII-XIV
CENTURIES
Showed the process of organization and
development of military and combatant disposi-
tions of Galician and Volyn armies in XIII–XIV
centuries. Emphasized that tactics and organi-
zation of military science in Galicia and Volyn
in XIII–XIV centuries were similar to the cor-
responding processes in Europe of that time.

РИМСЬКА ПОЛІТИКА ДАНИЛА РО-
МАНОВИЧА В 30-Х РОКАХ XIII СТОЛІТТЯ
На основі аналізу джерел у широкому
історичному контексті доведено, що лист
папи Григорія ІХ від 18 липня 1231 р. “пре-
світлому королеві Русі” (Illustri Regi Russiae)
адресовано князеві Данилові Романовичу. До-
кумент є свідченням контактів князя з
Римською курією, які розладналися через на-
полягання папи на переході на католицизм.

Реконструюється історія відвоювання
міста Дорогичина зусиллями князя Данила
Романовича. Встановлено, що початково єди-
на розповідь про цю подію в Галицько-Волин-
ському літописі виявилася розділеною на дві
частини й вміщена в різних частинах тексту.
При відновленні єдиної розповіді з’ясовано, що
місто відібрано від лицарів-тамплієрів.

In the analysis of historikal soures it is well-
proven in a wide context, that sheet of pope Hry-
horij IX from July, 18 1231, it is addressed Illustri
Regi Rusiae to the prince Daniel Romanovych. A
document is rotined the contacts with the Romt,
which was deranged through insistency of pope on
passing to the catholicism.

THE PRINCELY RESIDENCE “NA WYSO-

The article describes the main part of the
residency of the Prince Daniel Romanovych in
Cholm, constructed in the mid-13th century
and archaeologically researched in 2010–2012.
It discusses the preliminary results of the analy-
sis of the expansion and functioning of this
unique for Eastern Europe residential complex.

The article rekonstuiruetsya history recon-
quest of Daniel Romanovich Drogichin. It is es-
tablished was originally a single story about the
event in the Galicia-Volyn chronicle was divided
into pieces and placed in diff erent places. When
restoring a single text story it appears that the
city has been otitis in the Knights Templar.

THE WAE BETWEEN TEUTONIC ORDER
AND KINGDOM OF POLAND IN 20–40 YEARS
OF XIV CENTURY AND THE KINGDOM OF RUS’
In this article we analyze the main confl icts
between the Teutonic Order and the Kingdom of

призвели до конфронтації та військових дій
між ними у першій половині XIV ст. Розгля-
нуто позицію, яку займало королівство Русі
у цьому протистоянні. Проаналізовано вплив
змін геополітичного становища на ескалацію
та на подальше згортання військових дій, зо-
крема фактор занепаду держави Романовичів.
Автор доходить висновку, що територіальні
суперечки не були вирішені, а лише відтермі-
новані перед натиском інших проблем часу.
Не залишається сумнівів, що союз Тевтон-
ського ордену з королівством Русі (Галицько-
Волинською державою), особливо за часів князя
Болеслава Юрія Тройденовича, мав яскраву
антипольську спрямованість і відповідав то-
гочасним інтересам обох сторін.

КІЛЬКА НОВИХ ЗАУВАЖЕНЬ ДО ПО-
ХОДУ ПАЛАТИНА ВІЛЛЕРМА ДРУГЕТА “IN
RUTENIAM” НАВЕСНІ 1340 РОКУ
Досліджено хронологію походу угор-
ського палатина Віллерма Другета in
Ruteniam 1340 р. з метою військової допо-
моги польському королеві Казимиру ІІІ від
його союзника й родича, угорського короля
Карла Роберта Анжуйського. На підставі
ітінерарію палатина запропоновано висно-
вок про початок походу після 1 травня 1340
року (datum post quem; найімовірніше, між
1 та 8 травня) та повернення В. Другета
до Вишгороду перед 11 червня (datum ante
quem). Можна припустити, що В. Другет
міг активно воювати приблизно десять
днів. З огляду на територіальні володіння
сім’ї Другетів на північному сході Угорщи-
ни, а також на підставі імен можливих
учасників походу, зроблено висновок, що на-
правлене in Ruteniam військо було значною
силою.

Poland, which led to confrontation and war be-
tween them in the fi rst half of XIV century. We
consider the position occupied by the Kingdom
of Rus in this confrontation. We also defi ned the
infl uence of changes in the geopolitical situa-
tion to escalate and further curtailing military
operations, including a factor decline of the
Galicia-Volyn state. Having analyzed the avail-
able sources, the author concludes that the ter-
ritorial disputes were not completely resolved,
they are only postponed to the pressure of other
problems at that time. There is no doubt that the
alliance of the Teutonic Order with Kingdom of
Rus (Galicia-Volyn state), especially in times
of prince Boleslaw-Yurij Troydenovych had a
bright anti-Polish orientation and was interest-
ing for both sides.

SEVERAL NEW OBSERVATIONS ON THE
CAMPAIGN VILLERMA DRUGETH “IN RUTE-
NIAM”
The study researches into the chronology of
William Drugeth, Palatine of Hungary’s cam-
paigne on the Principality of Galicia-Volhynia (in
Ruteniam) in 1340. The campaign was undertak-
en as a military support to Casimir III the Great,
King of Poland by his ally and relative, Charles
Robert, King of Hungary. The author, basing it
on the Palatine’s itinerary, came to the conslu-
sion that the campaign of the Hungarian army
started a¾ er 1st May 1340 (datum post quem;
most likely between 1st and 8th of May), and that
Drugeth was back in Visegrad by 11th June (da-
tum ante quem). It can be assumed with caution
that Drugeth took an active part in the ba¹ les in
Galicia for about ten days. With regard to his vast
estates and authority in the north-eastern part of
Hungary, and the sporadically saved names of the
participants in the campaign, we can come to the
conclusion that the army sent to Ruthenia, rep-
resented a signifi cant military force.

Подано результати спроби досліджен-
ня шляху становлення митрополичої кате-
дри у Руському королівстві (середина XIV –
початок XV ст.) – від перших призначень
папською курією львівських єпископів до пе-
ренесення римо-католицької митрополичої
катедри з Галича до Львова. Ці події розгля-
нуто на тлі боротьби за спадщину Романо-
вичів, що нерозривно пов’язані між собою.

та недостатньо досліджена.

МІГРАЦІЯ РУСЬКИХ ШЛЯХЕТСЬКИХ
РОДИН ІЗ СЯНОЦЬКОЇ ЗЕМЛІ У ПЕРШІЙ
ПОЛОВИНІ XV СТОЛІТТЯ
Досліджуються причини переселення
із Сяноцької землі руських шляхетських
родин у першій половині XV ст. Протягом
цього періоду у Сяноцькій землі своїх маєт-
ностей позбулося 9 руських шляхетських
родин, що складає близько 20 % від загальної
кількості шляхетських родів, які володіли
земельною власністю у Сяноччині в цей час.
Причини міграції полягали у неможливості
адаптуватись до ведення господарства у но-
вих соціально-економічних умовах, перена-
селеності Сяноччини, перевазі чужого куль-
турно-етнічного елементу.

The article presents results of research eff orts
towards the formation of the metropolitan cathe-
dral in the kingdom of Rus (the middle. XIV – the
beginning. XV c.) – from the fi rst appointment of
the papal curia Lviv bishops to carry the Roman
Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral of Galic to the
Lviv. These developments are considered against
the background of the struggle for inheritance of
Romanovich, which is inextricably linked.

HADZHI-GERAY – THE FIRST CRIMEAN
KHAN
The article observes the collapse of the
Golden Horde and the separation of the uluses
from the powerful state. The main part deals
with the initial period of the Crimean Khan-
nate’s formation and the activity of the fi rst
Crimean khan Hadzhi Geray related to it. This
time causes great interest because it is insuffi -
ciently highlighted in the historical literature
and superfi cially investigated.

UKRAINIAN NOBLE FAMILIES EMI-
GRATION FROM SANOK LAND IN THE FIRST
HALF OF THE XV CENTURY
This article describes the reasons of Ukrai-
nian noble families emigration from Sanok Land
in the fi rst half of the XV century. During the
fi rst half of the XV century nine Ukrainian no-
ble families lost their estates on the territory of
Sanok Land which contain approximately 20 %
of all noble families who owned landed proper-
ty on Sanok Land at that time. The migration
processes were caused by the inability of nobi-
lity to adapt to farming in new socio-economic
conditions; overpopulation of Sanok Land; the
fact that foreign cultural and ethnic elements
prevailed over Sanok.
