M. leidyi abundance in 2009 varied from 1.3 to 914 ind m-2 and biomass from 7 to 170 g m-2, in 2010 – accordingly 0.7 – 150 and 0.3 – 482. Mnemiopsis started reproduction very early – in the beginning of June because of water fast warming-up. The feature of two last years was Beroe early appearance – in the beginning – middle July that resulted in short-term presence of M. leidyi in plankton and sharp decrease of its abundance in July – August. Large biomasses of Aurelia aurita with maximum values of 1061 и 1800 g m-2 were observed during those years. |
