This paper describes the possibility of physically correct simulation of heat and mass transfer in single-phase flows with help of one-dimensional computer codes that are widely used to develop computer models of nuclear power plants for analyzing their emergency regimes. For solving the problem of convection modeling by means of computer codes, the results of the bench experiment are compared with results of the experiment performed using the system of differential equations and with results of the experiment performed using the MELCOR computer code. Recommendations for the selection of optimal nodalization schemes for developing computer models with convection are provided.
