Zusammenfassung:Doctor of Biological Sciences Liudmyla Oleksiivna Biliavska, an eminent microbiologist, and laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, passed away on February 15, 2025. Born on December 30, 1978, in the village of Valiava, Cherkasy Oblast, she graduated from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 2004 and began her distinguished career at the D.K. Zabolotny Institute of Microbiology and Virology, NAS of Ukraine. Her groundbreaking research focused on soil Streptomyces and their biosynthetic capacities leading to the development of novel eco-friendly bioformulations such as Averkom nova, Phytovit, and Violar. These advancements addressed plant bioregulation, soil fertility, and agricultural sustainability, integrating antibiotic production, phytohormones and sterols biosynthesis. Her work also extended to solutions for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and restoring war-damaged lands, which were successfully implemented in Ukraine. Throughout her career, Doctor of Biological Sciences Biliavska authored over 220 scientific publications, including monographs, textbooks, and patents. As Head of the Department of General and Soil Microbiology from 2021, she advanced microbial biotechnology and agroecology, leaving an enduring legacy in both science and practical applications. Liudmyla Biliavska was Vice-President of the S.M. Vinogradsky Society of Microbiologists of Ukraine and an influential educator, mentoring numerous students. Her profound contributions were recognized with prestigious accolades, and her leadership in research, education, and environmental restoration will be deeply remembered. Beyond her scientific achievements, Liudmyla Oleksiivna will be cherished for her kindness, humility, and unwavering optimism. She left behind an indelible mark on the scientific community and all those fortunate enough to have known her. The memory of her will live as a source of inspiration for future generations.
