The rigorously formulated problem of electromagnetic wave diffraction by semi-infinite strip gratings is reduced to the solution of the nonlinear equation with respect to the sought reflection operator of a semi-infinite grating. The approximate analytical solution is found for the plane grating with the assumption that its strips are narrow and sparsely spaced. The asymptotic representation for the field scattered by a plane semi-infinite grating is obtained. It can be used as the initial approximation for an iteration procedure of the numerical solution. Операторный метод, использующий свойство трансляционной симметрии полубесконечной периодической структуры, обобщен для рассеивателей в виде металлических лент. Задача дифракции электромагнитной волны на полуограниченных ленточных решетках в строгой постановке сведена к решению нелинейного уравнения относительно искомого оператора отражения полубесконечной решетки. Найдено приближенное аналитическое решение уравнения в случае плоской решетки из узких редко расположенных лент. Получено асимптотическое представление поля, рассеянного плоской полуограниченной ленточной решеткой, которое может служить начальным приближением для итерационной процедуры численного решения.
